The Division of Vital Records and Health Statistics receives an average of 30,000 calls a month to the Vital Records Information Line. In addition, 9,000 people stop by the office each month requesting certified copies of birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates. The Division of Vital Records and Health Statistics houses over 7 million records for the citizens of Virginia. Marriage certificates can also be obtained from the Circuit Court in the city/county where the marriage was recorded.
